With over 340 million hectares of forest land in Canada, the Forestry sector is a major contributor to the Canadian economy. From conservation and sustainable forest management to manufacturing primary and secondary wood products in rural communities, forestry leaders look to Ference & Company for support with key research and evaluation questions surrounding best practices.
In a recent project, we worked with Forestry Innovation Investment to identify best practices in commercializing next generation forest products in British Columbia (e.g. advanced wood building products and building systems, bio-energy and specialty products made from wood fiber, derivatives from the pulping process, nano-crystalline cellulose, etc.). We visually mapped out a typical development process of a next generation forest product and utilized various consultation methods to identify key gaps in the process as well as opportunities to accelerate commercialization.
